I waited a long while to buy this game because I was very skeptical. I didn't see how a soccer game could really work on the iPhone and I went into this with really low expectations. So when I heard about the price of Real Soccer 2009 dropping to $.99, I was more than eager to download it. I immediately took notice to some pretty nice graphics, a well designed UI, and more game modes than I expected. After one game, I loved it. Then I started to play it a little more and started to get a little frustrated. It is a little hard to navigate your player around smoothly on offense, because the simulated "d-pad" can't exactly keep up with the cuts and maneuvers that an avid soccer gamer might be accustomed to. On defense the game is nothing short of frustrating when the game's hyper-active auto-select feature has your player switching half way into a run to defend. Scoring goals can also be a challenge as this game opted to go for the targeting marker that constantly moves from side to side across the goal mouth. But overall, this game is worth the $.99 sale price. I would say it's comparable to a cartridge soccer game, which really aren't bad at all.
